Since my first semester, I've learned to NEVER get your books before class starts. Most schools require teachers to have at least one necessary textbook, but in my experience, hardly any of them use them. My advice, if your teacher doesn't use them in the first 3 weeks of class, don't bother. And if they do, search ebay and barnes and noble for cheaper copies.

Get involved on campus.

Don't be afraid to explore other areas of study.

If the class has a cool/exciting name, chances are it's boring as hell.

Work smarter, not harder. Keep that in mind.

Also, speaking of books, rent the books are soo much better!!! If you are not going to use a book for the rest of your life, rent it and then usually the bookstore will allow you to get money back for returning them. However, there are instances where they won't allow you to give back the book because its no longer in print, not needed, etc. In that situation, I would try to sell them online like amazon or any place they get used books.

Have fun and also take advantage of the chance to have a schedule cram free. It probably will be crammed, but plan your schedule based off how you learn. Don't do a class thats too challenging and out of your reach because they will fail you if you have a D and you want to pass it right?

Try and have a schedule where you have a break SOMEWHERE once a week. Don't try and shove everything in your first year because you have three more to finish your major. Also, find a group of friends that likes movie nights instead of parties. I learned that the hard way, but I'm doing a lot better :)

Learn a new instrument or language or sport or art or something. Just do something to keep you grounded and busy so you aren't feeling homesick.

Oh but P.S. A good chunk of my friends I met at orientation week so sometimes you can trust them. Just hang out with people and if it lasts then great and if it doesn't don't beat yourself up about it because friends come and go the first semester.

Shooooot guys next week is my 20th birthday D: Do i really have to stop posting here if I still act like a teenager?

I'm voting for a forum name change considering most of us are no longer teens or won't be within the next year or so. I mean if Adventures of a Teenage Disney Geek can go to Disney Geek Adventures...why can't we?

Life has been meh.

And I pretty much live at Disneyland right now. Seriously. But I'm trying to plan a trip to WDW in January. :)

Hey haven't been on for a while. I know I'm 20 BUT i'm 19.

Classes are going okay. It's the end of the semester and things are starting to get busy busy. I'm going to Madagascar for a semester starting in January. No Disney trips for me. But soon I'll get to take my cousins for the first time (either this summer or next summer) and I am SOOO excited! Oh, and my boyfriend wants to come to. His mom never let him watch Disney Movies so he isn't really a fan of Disney, but my hope is that since he loves little kids and my cousins are so super cute then maybe it will be a good experience and he'll learn to love it.

Just my evil plan for spreading Disney Magic!

HEY GUYS! I know I'm 20 but then again no worries I hope. Please don't come after me with teenage pitchforks and hip lingo!

I just got back to the States about 2 weeks ago and I've been going back and forth between my house and my boyfriend's house. I'll be starting summer school monday, and he'll have an internship so I'll have more free time and more DF and Podcasting time! (I'll be sad though but still)

Madagascar was amazing! My computer was broken for most of it, and it's either the number 4 or number 6 poorest country in the world so there wasn't much wifi going on. Most people didn't understand that though. I learned a lot about life and myself and I've come back more open minded and appreciative of the life I have. I'm really happy to be back, but it was one of the most beautiful countries and one of the most rewarding experiences.

I'm sorry I have to cut this short, but I do hope to see people around on the forums.
